KINDERGARTEN 2025

Milton Public School is excited to announce that enrolments are now open for Kindergarten 2025.

You can enrol your child at Milton Public School by simply completing our online enrolment application.  Once you have completed the online application you will be contacted by the school via email with details of the next steps in the enrolment process.

Enrolment is open to children who turn 5 years of age on or before 31st July 2025.  By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their 6th birthday.

Enrolment Interviews

To get to know you and your child, each family will have a scheduled interview to go through the completed enrolment form and discuss your child’s transition to school.  This is also your opportunity to discuss any medical conditions, custody issues or other special circumstances before your child starts school.  We want to know as much information as we can so that we can cater for your child as best as we can from the first day they are with us.

Most enrolment interviews will be conducted between 12th August and 11th September 2024.

Kindergarten Orientation Sessions

One of the most exciting things for us is meeting your child.  Your child will have the opportunity to visit our school for three orientation sessions in Term 4, 2024.  These sessions allow your child to become familiar with the school and our routines prior to their first day in 2025.  Our goal is to ensure the transition from preschool to Kindergarten is as successful as possible.  We will provide you with an orientation pack and resources to help with this process and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Children will be split into small groups for our orientation sessions, which will be held on:

Wednesday 23rd October – 9:30am to 11:00am

Wednesday 6th November – 9:30am to 11:00am

Wednesday 20th November – 9:30am to 11:00am

We ask that your child attend all three orientation sessions, if possible.

First Nations Students Orientation

Our First Nations Kindergarten students will attend an additional orientation session on:

Wednesday 30th October – 9:30am to 11:00am (First Nations students only)

yilaga-nj Transition

Students who will be joining our yilaga-nj classes will have additional transition to Kindergarten sessions during Term 4 between Monday 21st October to Friday 22nd November 2024.

Kindergarten 2025 Parent Information Session

We look forward to meeting our 2025 parents and to share our amazing school with you all.  We will be holding our Parent Information Session on Wednesday 6th November while your child is attending their orientation session.  Join us for coffee and cake from 9:30am with the information session commencing at 10:00am.  The session will provide you with important information on what you need to know before your child starts Kindergarten.  Our goal is to make sure you have all the information that you need to make the best start possible for your child.

Kindergarten Best Start

Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a literacy and numeracy assessment conducted for all Kindergarten students and identifies literacy and numeracy skills on entry to Kindergarten.  It has been conducted in all NSW public schools since 2010.

Best Start Assessments will be conducted during term 1 of the 2025 school year.

Kindergarten 2025 First Day of School

The first full school day for our Kindergarten 2025 students is Thursday 6th February 2025.
