How to enrol

Every child has the right to access quality public education in their local community. If you live in our local intake area, start your journey to join our vibrant school community today. Follow these key steps:

1. Check your eligibility:  use School Finder to confirm if your address is within our local intake area.
2. Read:  other enrolment details for our school.
3. Apply online:  complete our online enrolment application.

School contributions

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.

Kindergarten 2026

Milton Public School is excited to announce that enrolments are now open for Kindergarten 2026.

You can enrol your child at Milton Public School by completing our online enrolment application.  Once you have completed the online application you will be contacted by the school via email with details of the next steps in the enrolment process.

If your child does not live within our intake area, visit out-of-area enrolment.  Out-of-area enrolment procedures are subject to the Department's enrolment policy.

Enrolment is open to children who turn 5 years of age on or before 31st July 2026.  By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their 6th birthday.

Kindergarten School Tours

We invite our Kindergarten parents/carers and students to visit the school for a tour.  All tours will be held at 10:00am and our next tour date is:

Enrolment Interviews

To get to know you and your child, each family will have a scheduled interview to go through the completed enrolment form and discuss your child's transition to school.  This is also your opportunity to discuss any medical conditions, custody issues or other special circumstances before your child starts school.  We want to know as much information as we can so that we can cater for your child as best as we can from the first day they are with us.

Our enrolment interviews are conducted between August and November 2025.

Kindergarten Orientation Sessions

One of the most exciting things for us is meeting your child.  Your child will have the opportunity to visit our school for three orientation sessions in Term 4, 2025.  These sessions allow your child to become familiar with the school and our routines prior to their first day in 2026.  Our goal is to ensure the transition from preschool to Kindergarten is as successful as possible.  We will provide you with an orientation pack and resources to help with this process and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Children will be split into small groups for our orientation sessions, which will be held between 9:30am and 11:00am on:

• Wednesday 22nd October
• Wednesday 5th November
• Wednesday 19th November

We ask that your child attend all three orientation sessions, if possible.

First Nations Students Orientation

Our First Nations Kindergarten students attend an additional orientation session on Wednesday 29th October 2025 between 9:45am and 11:00am.

yilaga-nj Transition

Students who will be joining our yilaga-nj classes will have an additional transition to Kindergarten sessions during Term 4 between October and November 2025.

Kindergarten 2026 Parent Information Session

We look forward to meeting our 2026 parents and to share our amazing school with you all.  We will hold our Parent Information Session during one of your child's orientation sessions.  Join us for coffee and cake from 9:25am on Wednesday 5th November, with the information session commencing at 9:40am.  This session will provide you with important information on what you need to know before your child starts Kindergarten.  Our goal is to make sure you have all the information that you need to make the best start possible for your child.
